[Presentation of Materials] Can heat island effects be mitigated with heat-reflective pavement coatings?
The color is the same, but the temperature is different. The heat-insulating paint cools the scorching pavement by 10°C.
A mechanism that can lower asphalt surface temperature by up to 10°C | What is the heat island countermeasure effect of heat-reflective paint? This product is a heat-reflective paint for road paving that comes in multiple colors such as black, ivory, and gray. While regular black paint can reach surface temperatures of around 100°C, heat-reflective black paint is able to keep it down to about 90°C. Ivory reduces the temperature from 75°C to 70°C, and gray from 81°C to 76°C, all of which have been proven in tests to lower surface temperatures compared to their regular color counterparts. It contains special components that reflect infrared rays, demonstrating heat-reflective performance without changing the visible color. Additionally, by scattering lime or ceramic aggregates on the paint surface, it is possible to further enhance the heat-reflective effect. It also excels in workability, allowing for application on existing asphalt surfaces.
